Painting #76: Pompeii (Unfinished) + Exciting News!

Here's where I'm at with my current painting:
Disregard anything below the clouds! I had an idea for this painting, and I'm taking in a completely different direction now. I'm going to try and do something very minimalist instead. Which is hard for an overthinker/overpainter like me.

And I will soon be moving to my very own apartment (!!!) and have been shamelessly looking at decorating ideas. Now, I know there's no way I can afford to decorate like any of these rooms nor will my place look anywhere near as awesome...but this is the first time I will not be living with roommates since 2010 and I'm just slightly excited. I fully intend to scour every second hand store, every neighborhood garage sale, and Goodwill until my place looks like a tiny bohemian paradise.

How can you not love a diving pig?

I saw this painting in a store the other day and absolutely fell in love. It's called Kohler's Pig, by Michael Sowa. Which led me to look up his other artwork, and it's pretty fantastic stuff. I don't even know how to describe it, and I feel like something more complicated is lying underneath the lovely landscapes, but I know I like it!

Weekend Adventures + Painting #76: Pompeii (Sneak Peak.)

This weekend I went up to the Greenville/Pickens/Easley/Asheville/Middle of Nowhere area of South Carolina. It was the first time going upstate during the spring, rather than my usual winter and summer trips. And it is absolutely gorgeous as usual! Took some different roads and saw a few new places along the way, including Paris Mountain, which is located just outside of Greenville. And as always I went to my beloved Table Rock Mountain!

Paris Mountain

Here's a dam picture. (Hanson humor.)

Winnie and me at Table Rock!

Holding on for dear life, so she doesn't attack a nearby dog.

Terrible photo of my new painting. Take a wild guess as to what it could be!
