Painting #51: Owl and the Starry Night. (Finished.)
It seems that every time I paint something it ends up looking like something out of a children's book. I don't know if that's good or bad. I've been spending more time on each painting because soon my apartment will be nothing but canvases if I don't slow down! So if there are any paintings you like in my etsy store, I'll gladly give them to you for free! I'd like to see them go somewhere other than my closet and walls!

Painting #50: Around the Tree. (Finished.)
I hit my fiftieth painting this week! Woohoo! This is just a silly little painting I did over the weekend. It's tiny - 4 x 12!

Painting #46: Endless Fields. (Trying this Again.)
I did some touch ups last night and took some better pictures. The painting has really thick paint on it - which creates a texture that really doesn't photograph well.

One More Time: #44: Snowfall. (Finished.) Better Pic.
This is going to be my last treescape for awhile. I'm finding myself getting a bit bored doing the same thing over and over. My next several paintings are going to be simpler. I'm taking inspiration from the area where I live - marshes and ocean life. And where I used to live - prairies and open fields. So I think the same style - kinda whimsical storybook illustrations - just a different subject matter!

Painting #43: Spanish Moss. (Finished.)
My new neighborhood is covered in these Gothic looking old oak trees draped in Spanish moss. I have a feeling I'll start incorporating them in a lot of paintings. I have also been in a big blue and green kick. It's soothing, I think.

Painting #40:(!) Halloween Time. (Finished.)
I did this one pretty quickly and kind of regret not doing some more things with it. But practice is practice!

Painting #39: Fall Forest. (Finished.)
This painting made me realize that I don't really like painting with red that much. I much prefer my browns, greens, and oranges. But I love Fall and had to do something Fall-ish.

Painting #38: One more time around. (Finished.)
Jordan always really liked this painting, so I decided to take the idea and make it a bit bigger:

Painting #32: Bear Necessities. (Finished.)
So I had this idea earlier this week that I should take one of the paintings that I've already done - one that I'm not exactly very proud of - and try to turn it into something a little better.
I realized this painting had been in the closet of shame since I had painted it:
My one and only attempt at abstract art. I always think that green thing in the middle looks like a sleeping alligator.
So this week I turned it into this:
It's great because it saves me on art supplies! Now this painting has been promoted to the wall of shame.

Painting #26: Blue Birds. (Finished.)
I've had a bit of a strange week so far - I had the day off today and decided to see if I could start and finish a painting in one sitting. I knew I wanted to use the color red and wanted to do something with prairie and flowers. What I created I think is probably the corniest thing I've ever painted. But practice is practice!
Inspired by the Olympics I used a whole bunch of cut up international stamps in the background.
